Drove straight through to Vancouver from Portland, Oregon. Glad I am in the Honda... this looks like a hard way to travel. Rod ? - this could be your future?

Spoke to this guy that lives on the beach at Stanley Park. He has been living "off the grid" for 7 years!!. I asked him what does he do when it snows.. he answered "I have a tarp".
He has a great setup. Finds discarded food from the nearby cafe and cooks it up in his frypan.

Just unbelievable! What happened to get this guy to not want to do anything with anyone! Harsh existence to say the least...
He seemed very happy and content and had all he needed.
Ah yes, the venerable Honda GoldWing - bigger than some cars. And with a trailer too! Bottom line is that I have floated the possibility a few times and received response ranging from rolled eyes to "not in this lifetime". But I'm nothing if not persistent. Checked out your biking friends' travel Blog too - really good.
By the way, that's some camera you're using. The res on the computer is amazing.
